Key IT Trends for 2016?
Posted on 8th January 2016
At this time of the year, there are lots of surveys, blogs and much longer pieces, all speculating what will happen in the IT job market 12 months ahead.
This article in ComputerWorldUK is pretty good, looking at the “Top 10 IT job hiring trends for 2016 - the skills gap, rising salaries and how to make the most of the 2016 job market.”
At Be-IT Resourcing we pretty much agree what’s written there, to wit there are great opportunities in the regions (as demonstrated by the number of IT jobs on the regional job-boards – see below), and the skills gap is here to stay for the time being until sufficient people learn coding/security etc. and become experienced enough to be considered for the (many) roles available.
Don’t get us wrong though; there are (quite a lot of) people available, but with so much demand for talented individuals it’s a seller’s market and those with the right personal, professional and technical skills can command a rather handsome salary. Increasingly, they can also insist on working to their terms and as such they can tease out additional benefits which would have been point blank refused in the past, such as remote working.
Certainly, for those who want one, the jobs are there in abundance. S1jobs had over 400 IT roles advertised in the first week of January, while JobServe had over 500. It’s going to be a busy year!
