Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) is hosting the award-winning SmartSTEMs on its Glasgow campus.   It is hoped that over 500 pupils, aged between 11 and 14, will be able to participate in a wide range of activities, including a robot race, forensics investigation, model bridge building, coding, TV news programme production, and surveying.  We have been writing for many months now about the importance of increasing female participation in computing/digital/engineering so we're glad to see that GCU is, for the second year in a row, taking a lead by organising and hosting this event. Dr Tuleen Boutaleb, from the university's School for Engineering and the Built Environment, said, “Female uptake of engineering and computing programmes remains low and it is events such as SmartSTEMs that aim to improve understanding of the relevance of STEM as future careers for women."

The event this year takes place this Tuesday, June 7, and if you want further information, go to this link.
