As participants in the APSCo survey, Be-IT receives their monthly report.  It’s always interesting and this month there is a special focus on IT which we’d like to share with you.

The market for recruitment in general shows what APSCo describes as “a mixed picture”.  As the infographic here shows, while placements were “generally down” in August, salaries and demand for perm roles increased, both up on the equivalent 2015 figures.

The research on IT was conducted by Burning Glass and is based on job postings.  It shows an unsurprising concentration of postings in the south-east and especially around Cambridge – as shown on this graphic.

Burning Glass also considered high growth skills and high demand skills. These are shown in the tables below.

As you can see, Angular JS (the Javascript based framework) is top of the list of high growth skills, closely followed by big-data skills. When it comes to skills in high demand – as determined from job postings – SQL tops the list, followed by Javascript and Microsoft C#.
