Nothing fishy here - meet Be-IT's new Senior Consultant, Craig Cameron
Posted on 28th July 2017
We like to give all our new starts the chance to embarrass themselves by fessing up to various sins in their days prior to becoming a recruiter. We've had some belters, from the dropped placenta to the credit card malfunction, but never before have we had anyone who had to spent three hours gutting fish with a hangover (the person that is, not the fish obviously!).
Name: Craig Cameron
Job title: Senior Consultant
What other jobs have you done apart from being a recruiter?
I worked as a chef after school, including some time in a number of excellent restaurants in Glasgow and Lanarkshire.
What is your biggest disaster at work (anywhere)?
It as during my time in the restaurant business, and it involved being horribly hungover and having to gut fish repeatedly for 3 hours.
What make a good recruiter?
Someone who finds it easy to get on with people and enjoys building long lasting relationships with both candidates/clients
Favourite food and drink and where in the world would you like to be when you are having them?
Favourite food is Greek and favourite drink is Havana 7 with coke and lime - and I would like to be having them in Venice overlooking the Grand Canal (cool – Ed).
Recommend a restaurant and/or bar for us? I would recommend
“The Dhabba” in Glasgow. You neeeeeeeed to try the lamb chops. Outstanding, every time (could not agree more – Ed)
What’s your view of the market just now – where are the real challenges?
The market is very competitive currently and it’s important you don’t get left behind with new technologies. It’s essential we continue to upskill and learn so we can continually support/assist our candidates and clients.
What do you think Be-IT is bringing to the Glasgow market?
From what I’ve seen so far, Be-IT aims to be not just different but decisively and distinctly better than everyone else in this amazingly competitive IT recruitment marketplace. We do this by delivering a full range of best-in-class services, underpinned by some of the most knowledgeable people in the business.
Favourite (non work) website and why?
Sky Sports as I am a sports fanatic and like to keep up to date with the latest happenings.
Favourite (work) website and why?
LinkedIn as it gives me access to the best people in my areas of expertise and keeps me up to date with latest business news.
Favourite techie gadget?
I don’t know if it qualifies but I love my wireless speaker that I can play my vinyl records through. I have 24 in my collection so far and looking to add a lot more… (Ed’s note for younger readers, vinyl records were what older people used to buy before CDs and streaming came along and their sound quality is better than anything outside a studio. For the record (sorry!) Craig is not old).
