Falling asleep in reception

Paul StrachanBe-IT has been growing for quite a long time now.  Since we began actually, but we're getting bigger (and, we hope, better) all the time.  However, to continue to do this we need really good recruiters and resourcers.  That's a challenge because, just like the IT market, good recruitment consultants are in short supply. Fortunately, this is where Paul comes in....

Name: Paul Strachan

Job title:  Consultant

What’s the funniest thing you’ve seen in recruitment?
A candidate falling asleep in reception whilst waiting to be interviewed.

What other jobs have you done apart from being a recruiter?
Personal Banking Advisor, Business Relationship Manager.

What made you join Be-IT?
Be-IT is an exciting company that is constantly growing and evolving. I wanted to be part of a company that would give me a platform to develop as a consultant and I feel Be-IT does this perfectly.

What is your biggest disaster at work (anywhere)? –
I’ve been reasonably lucky (touch wood) not to have had any real disasters in work. Aside from the usual drink spillage and turning up to work soaked having walked 45 minutes in the rain with no umbrella, I’ve got off lightly.

What’s the biggest challenge in IT recruitment just now?
Distinguishing yourself from other IT recruiters. You need to show why your company is the best and what it is you do differently. In a market as competitive as ours, you need to be ahead of the game.

Favourite (non work) website and why?
YouTube, I’ve lost hours watching rugby highlights and daft videos. There is no end to the needless timewasting.

Describe an ideal weekend (in no more than three sentences)?
An ideal weekend would be spent having a beer with the good lady and some mates, watching rugby and having a laugh. I’d be keen to squeeze in a couple of cracking meals also.
