The 2019 Be-IT research project: IR35 and its implications for private sector
Posted on 3rd June 2019
The purpose of this study is simply to investigate employers’ and contractors’ knowledge of, and concerns about, IR35 and its implications for the private sector.
To that end, the questions are split into two sections: one for contractors and one for employers. The questions asked cover more or less the same range of topics in either case, but with some minor changes so that they make sense from each perspective, whether as an individual contractor or an agent/employing company. A key section of the questionnaire seeks to find out how much respondents actually know about the subject of IR35 and this is followed by a series of questions asking respondents what they believe the impact of IR35 will be for themselves or their businesses. Finally, there is a small section asking those who have already been through the roll-out of IR35 in the public sector to tell us about its impact there.
You’ll find the survey at this link: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/IR35forIT
It should take around about five minutes to complete this, but we believe that this will be time well spent and the results will be eagerly read by the industry as a whole. As in previous years, we shall ensure that our final report is widely circulated: previous Be-IT studies have been extensively published in trade journals/websites and in major UK press titles, including The Sunday Times.
Thank you for taking the time to help with this very important research project.
