For more than two decades, the CmdR Scotsoft conference has been the major stage on which the tech industry in Scotland showcases the depth and breadth of Scottish ideas and innovation, coupled with world-class speakers from across the globe.

For obvious reasons, this year is different. The pandemic has, of course, transformed the way in which the conference will be delivered, but underpinning everything is the imperative need to, as the conference title says, “Reboot and Recover.” The range of speakers is inspiring, including Steve Guggenheimer, Corporate Vice President – AI & ISV Engagement at Microsoft Corporation, Rik Ferguson, Vice President of Security Research at Trend Micro, Andrew Harmel-Law, Technical Principal at ThoughtWorks and security geek Mark Goodwin of Mozilla.  Here, you can see the full list of speakers and also the agenda

Within the overall “Reboot and Recover” theme, one of the central pillars of the event is that “Digital is no longer an option,” a sentiment with which we at Be-IT wholeheartedly concur.  With that in mind, we are sponsoring the Leadership Stream at Cmd R ScotSoft2020 this year. Chief Executive, Gareth Biggerstaff is looking forward to the event, telling us, “With everything that is happening in the world this year it is great to see that ScotSoft 2020 provides a continuum for the Scottish technology sector.  It is our pleasure to support the ScotSoft 2020 Leadership Stream which will bring hundreds of leaders together at a pivotal time, allowing us not only to identify new trends and tech but also, and more importantly than ever, to collaborate and jointly support each other through the economic minefield that lies ahead for many firms.

Be-IT’s MD,  Nikola Kelly, noted that this is the seventh consecutive year the company has sponsored Scotsoft. Nik said, “Scotsoft is always a key date in our annual events schedule, but this year we felt it even more important than usual to be involved. Obviously, in the current circumstances it’s in a different format, but I am confident it will be an amazing event and we are looking forward to catching up with everyone on the day. Speaking personally, I cannot wait to hear the key speakers and their views on the rapidly changing business climate and how the technology market is responding.  A big thanks to ScotlandIS for having us and organising such an important, large scale event in these trying times. It’s a must attend conference – we look forward to “meeting you” (virtually) there!”

Michael Phair, Be-IT

NOTE: The conference takes place on 1st October and you can register here. As well as the principal agenda, there are parallel sessions throughout the day focussing on things businesses can do to recover and grow and also looking at how technology can help transform non-tech businesses, highlighting some of the best solutions Scotland has to offer.
