Business IT Manager
Edinburgh or London
c. £86K plus bonus and excellent benefits
A career with one of the world’s biggest brands, a brewer known in every nook and cranny of the UK and beyond, is both rewarding and challenging in equal measure. It’s rewarding because pride in the culture and the brand is immense and the opportunities for advancement are excellent, especially for those prepared to travel. It’s challenging because the firm is undergoing unprecedented change: at times this will be a rollercoaster of long hours and high pressure because standards and expectations are high and there is a demand for constant improvement. The good news though is that all this is underpinned by investment in IT of £17million this year and £20 million next, putting technology firmly at the forefront of a major agenda for change.
As their new Business IT Manager, you’ll be coming into a global company where there is a huge emphasis on Agile Business Transformation and your initial objectives will be getting up to speed on existing, major programmes, evaluating their success and repositioning them as necessary. It is then a case of enhancing and maturing the IT roadmap, especially around marketing, social media, and the digital plan, and ensuring a clear 3-5 year strategy is in place to meet business ambitions.
More specifically, you’ll have overall accountability for engagement and strategic alignment between IT and the UK business areas, providing leadership and management of all aspects of IT solutions and developing strong win-win relationships across the organisation. This requires proactive contributions to the definition and ongoing development of UK IT strategies, ensuring competitive advantage and business capabilities are enhanced through the effective adoption of digital solutions.
With responsibility for a direct team of up to 20 and extended 3rd Party delivery/project teams up to 50, this is a job for someone with a demonstrable track record of IT management success who is still ambitious and on the way up: it’s not for someone looking to tread water or use as a stepping stone to elsewhere. You’ll certainly need experience of working within a truly global business, ideally brewing or, if not that, probably retail, hospitality or manufacturing, gained over at least a decade, with around three years in a relevant leadership role. Commercially astute, and with an open, engaging and authentic management style, you’ll lead and motivate from the front, empowering others to make an active contribution to the IT team and the business as a whole.
The role can be based in Edinburgh or London. If based in Edinburgh there will be travel to London every few weeks as this is where key stakeholders are based.
