Be-IT are currently working with a large software and analytics company based in Glasgow. We are seeking an Application Support Engineer, you will work as part of our clients Application Support) team engaging directly with clients to deliver world class customer support experience for the company.

Application Support Engineers require limited support in order to carry out the following activities within the timescales and quality standards set by the department:

  • Utilise software engineering skills to support company EM products
  • Manage support ticket queue, ensuring that tickets are frequently updated
  • Liaise with customers and 3rd party suppliers to ensure smooth resolution of issues
  • Carry out testing of the solution and create supporting documentation
  • Actively contribute to team meetings and workshops to encourage proliferation of knowledge
  • Perform restarts & releases to customer environments, which will often be outside of normal working hours
  • Provide expertise on other technologies and deliver training to the team e.g. Relational Databases


  • A degree or post graduate qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline essential
  • Understanding of software debugging desirable
  • Understanding of root cause analysis desirable
  • Understanding of a Linux operating system desirable
  • Understanding of unit testing and TDD desirable
  • Understanding of continuous integration systems desirable
  • Understanding of all stages of the Software Development Lifecycle desirable
  • Understanding of using SQL and relational database technologies e.g. SQL Server, Oracle desirable
  • Understanding of cross-browser compatibility concerns desirable
  • Knowledge of web application development and of developing and using Web Services e.g. SOAP desirable
  • Languages: Working knowledge of Java and the majority of the following: HTML, Javascript, XML, XSL/XSLT, Ant, CSS, JQuery, JSP, Ajax desirable
