This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a large software and analytics company based in Glasgow. They are seeking a Junior Software Engineer. They will be involved in the technical design, development, and the implementation of web-based and PowerShell applications. The Software Engineer will work within the engineering team in order to develop new product features, identify and resolve quality issues and handle product support requests

Develop key skills and knowledge of applications and deployment models. Identify related components and check for completeness of solutions, seeking assistance where required. Ensure quality of the feature being delivered, testing its functionality before it is verified / tested. Ensure the functionality is tested and working properly before final release. Promote new functionality to team and wider audience. Consult with product management and quality assurance for clarification of requirements and timescales. Development of product enhancements within agreed timescales. Breaks tasks into smaller ones and sets milestones, identifies and plans for dependencies. Systematises routine work to ensure time can be spent on critical activities.

Skills Experience

  • Understanding of object-oriented analysis, algorithm design and design patterns
  • Design and development knowledge of C#
  • Understanding of both web client side and server-side development
  • Good understanding of web technology, including HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript
  • Experience of unit testing
  • Experience of dot net frameworks, C#
  • Experience in CLI, PowerShell and Python scripting
  • Experience of version control systems e.g. Subversion, CVS, Git
  • Experience of software debugging
  • Experience of a Windows operating system
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
  • Understanding of software development life cycle methodologies
  • Understanding of RDBMS such as SQL Server or MySQL
